This afternoon, we embark on a life-changing journey to the Holy Land! Our evening flight begins with dinner service and time to fellowship with friends old and new, meditate on the experiences ahead, and get some sleep on our way to the Tel Aviv airport.

When we arrive at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, we will be greeted by our Israeli guide who will accompany us throughout the duration of our time in Israel. From the airport, we will board our bus to journey to Jerusalem. In the evening, we will make our way to the Old City of Jerusalem for “The Night Spectacular” – an incredible sound and light show screened among the ancient remains of the Tower of David – that will show us the amazing journey of Jerusalem through time.

Dinner & Overnight: Jerusalem

Today, we will walk where Jesus walked. We will begin the day with a panoramic view of Old Jerusalem and the Temple Mount from atop the Mount of Olives. We will walk the path Jesus followed on Palm Sunday, and we will make our way down to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus experienced the agony of His impending condemnation. After a time of prayer and reflection, we will ascend to the Old City through the Lion’s Gate (the ancient Sheep Gate) to visit the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus healed a man who had been an invalid for 38 years. From there, we move to the Judgment Hall of Pilate to hear of those who conspired against Jesus and remember the brutal beating and mocking Jesus endured for us. We will then follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which marks the traditional site of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.

We will walk to nearby Mount Zion to view the Tomb of David, and then we will visit the House of Chiapas and the Upper Room where the disciples experienced the Lord’s Supper on the night Jesus was betrayed. We will end our day with the climax of our journey—the Garden Tomb—where we will celebrate again the truth that Christ is risen from the dead! Your relationship with Christ will deepen today.

Dinner & Overnight: Jerusalem:

We will start our day with a visit to Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, where we will visit the Holocaust History Museum, the Children’s Memorial, and the Avenue of the Righteous Among the Nations. We will then travel to Ein Karem, which is the birthplace of John the Baptist, and we will make our way to the Israel Museum where we will visit the Model of Jerusalem during the Second Temple Period. Here, our guide will help us better understand the significant places in the life and ministry of our Lord. We will also visit the Shrine of the Book, where we will be able to look at the Dead Sea Scrolls and see the amazing way in which God has preserved His Word so that generations might know and love Him.

Later in the afternoon, we will make our way to Bethlehem to view the site of our Lord’s birth. We will visit the Shepherds Fields where the angels appeared to the shepherds and proclaimed glad tidings of great joy for all the people in the birth of our Savior, and we will visit the Church of the Nativity to see our Lord’s manger and birthplace.

Dinner & Overnight: Jerusalem

We will journey from Jerusalem to the Judean Wilderness, and we will start our day with a cable-car ride to the mountaintop fortress of Masada, which was designed and constructed by King Herod but became the famous site of the Jewish stand against Rome in the late first century A.D. From there, we will travel to Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. We will then proceed to En Gedi, an oasis on the western shore of the Dead Sea where David and his mighty men hid from King Saul – and where David spared King Saul’s life. We will go from there to the Dead Sea, where anyone who wishes can experience what it’s like to float with no effort and experience the skin-enriching benefits of the mineral-rich water of the Dead Sea. On our way back to Jerusalem, we will pass by the world’s oldest city – Jericho.

Dinner & Overnight: Jerusalem

Our day will begin with a visit to the Temple Mount, which is the site where the Jewish Temple once stood and where the Islamic Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque now stand. Then, we will visit the Roman Cardo, the Herodian Mansion, the Temple Institute, and the Western Wall. We will also visit the Western Wall Tunnels, where we will see the great architectural feat that is the Temple Mount and portions of the city remaining from the Second Temple period when Jesus walked the earth.

We will visit the Tower of David, which is a citadel near the Jaffa Gate that now contains a museum depicting 4,000 years of Jerusalem’s history. We will then leave the Old City of Jerusalem to visit the City of David, where King David established his reign over Israel more than 1,000 years before the time of Christ. In the City of David, we will see the Gihon Spring where Solomon was anointed king, and we will finish our tour at the Pool of Siloam where Jesus instructed the man born blind to wash the mud from his eyes in John 9.

Dinner & Overnight: Jerusalem

We will depart Jerusalem and head toward Jericho, where we will view Mount Temptation—the traditional site of Jesus’ temptation—and we will see the oldest Sycamore Tree in Jericho, which is perhaps where Zacchaeus climbed to see Jesus as He passed by. From there, we will drive along the Jordan Valley to Gideon Springs, where God finished reducing the size of Gideon’s army from 32,000 to 300 so that God would receive the glory in their defeat of the Midianites.

We will then travel to Beit She’an, which is located at the intersection of the Jordan and Jezreel valleys and is the most magnificent archeological site in Israel. When the Philistines discovered the dead bodies of King Saul and his sons, they hanged their bodies on the walls of Beit She’an. During the intertestamental period, the city was renamed “Scythopolis,” and archaeologists have uncovered a significant number of ruins from this city. During the time of Jesus, Scythopolis was one of the chief cities of the Decapolis—a league of ten cities sharing Greek culture and government. We will end our day by driving to the Sea of Galilee

Dinner & Overnight: Tiberias

Our day will begin with a relaxing, worshipful cruise on the Sea of Galilee that will bring to life the experiences of the fishermen disciples of Jesus. We will then visit Capernaum, which was Jesus’ home base of ministry and the location of Peter’s home. From there, we will travel to the site of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, and we will visit the Church of St. Peter’s Primacy where Jesus reinstated Peter after the resurrection. Then, we will visit the Mount of Beatitudes and hear again Jesus’ majestic Sermon on the Mount in the place where He first preached it. We will travel next to Magdala—the hometown of Mary Magdalene—where we will see the ancient Synagogue of Magdala in which Jesus’ almost certainly taught.

To finish the day, we will travel to the Jordan River Baptismal Site where anyone who wishes will have the opportunity to reaffirm their baptismal confession in the very waters in which Jesus was baptized.

Dinner & Overnight: Tiberias

Our day will begin with a visit to the Tel Dan Nature Preserve, which is a gorgeous location situated in what is known as the “land of streams and rivers.” Within its beauty and history, however, lie tragic stories of people choosing to go their own way instead of God’s way. We will then make our way to Caesarea Philippi, a city that was a center of Baal worship and later worship of the Roman emperor. It was here, among the shrines to other gods, that Peter confessed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. From there, we will travel to Mount Bental to see the Road to Damascus, and then we will go to Katzrin where we will visit the ruins of a magnificent Talmudic village.

Dinner & Overnight: Tiberias

We will start our day with a visit to Mt. Arbel, where we will enjoy a majestic, panoramic view of the Sea of Galilee. We will continue on to Cana, the site of Jesus’ first miracle where He turned water into wine, and we will go to Jesus’ boyhood hometown of Nazareth. We will then travel through the Jezreel Valley to Megiddo, where archaeologists have unearthed more than twenty levels of civilization and where the Bible indicates the battle on the great day of God Almighty will occur (Revelation 16:12-16).

We will then travel to Mt. Carmel, where the prophet Elijah stood firm and prevailed over 450 prophets of Baal. From there, we will travel along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea to Caesarea Maritima, the great seaside city built by King Herod that served as the headquarters of Pontius Pilate and later became the location where the first gentile convert to Christianity, Cornelius, received Christ and was baptized. We will finish our day by driving to Tel Aviv.

Dinner & Overnight: Tel Aviv

A very early morning departure for the Tel Aviv Airport will allow for an early afternoon arrival at home, but you will return home with a renewed knowledge of the Bible and a reinvigorated relationship with God and dozens of your newest friends.

We will arrive home different from when we departed. We will have had fresh encounters with our God in the place where His Name has dwelt for millennia, and we will never be the same again. We will read the Bible with a new familiarity with the places we previously could only imagine, and we will worship God with a deeper understanding of who He is and how He has moved throughout the course of human history. We will never be the same again, and for that, we will be thankful.

He has a B.S. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Centre College and an M.Div. and Ph.D. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
